- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup melted crisco
- pinch of salt
In a large bowl, beat eggs until light. Add sugar, beat. In a small bowl, add of baking soda to cup molasses. Mix with spoon until soda is dissolved. In another bowl, mix together flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Pour molasses mixture into egg mixture. Mix. Add melted crisco and pinch of salt. Mix. Add boiling water. Mix well. Pour into a greased and floured long loaf pan. Bake at 350F for approximently 40 minutes.
