Hot Tuna and Cheddar Sandwiches Recipe

sandwich recipes
  • 2 cans (6 ounces each) water-packed albacore tuna, drained and flaked
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup (4 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped green olives
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise Dash of ground black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns, split

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In large bowl, combine tuna, celery, onion, cheese, olives, mayonnaise, and pepper. Divide tuna mixture evenly among buns. Wrap sandwiches loosely in aluminum foil. Place on baking sheet. Bake 15-20 minutes or until heated through.

Straganoff Sandwich

sandwich recipes
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onion with tops
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp worchestershire sauce
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 loaf french bread, unsliced
  • Butter or margarine
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 green pepper cut into rings
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

In a skillet cook beef and onion until meat is brown. Drain off fat. Stir in sour cream, worchestershire, garlic powder and salt. Heat through but do not boil.

Cut loaf in half lengthwise. Place cut side up on a baking sheet. Broil 4-5 inches from heat until toasted (2-3 min). Spread lightly with butter. Spread hot meat mixture on each loaf half. Arrange tomato slices and green peppers on top of the meat mixture. Place on baking sheet and broil for 3 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese; broil 2 min longer.

Slice and serve.

Taco Burger Sandwich

sandwich recipes
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 16 oz can tomatoes cut up
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp worchestershire sauce
  • 3/4 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp dry mustard
  • 8 hamburger buns, split and toasted
  • 2 cups shredded iceburg lettuce
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

In a skillet brown ground beef and drain off fat. Stir in undrained tomatoes, chili powder, worchestershire sauce, garlic salt, sugar and dry mustard. Bring to boil and reduce heat. Simmer uncovered until thickened about 15 to 20 minutes.

Spoon meat mixture onto toasted buns. Sprinkle each with lettuce and cheese. Serve.

Meatloaf Sandwiches

sandwich recipes
  • 8 slices of whole-wheat bread
  • Bottled Thousand Island dressing
  • Watercress sprigs or lettuce
  • 8 thin slices tomato
  • 4 thin slices of cold meat loaf

Toast bread slices and spread each with some Thousand Island dressing. Top half of the slices with watercress, tomato slices and meat loaf. Cover with remaining bread slices, dressing side down. Serves four.
