- 1 1/2 - 2 lbs stewing beef
- 1 cup sliced carrots
- 1 clove garlic - crushed
- 1 can tomato soup
- 1/2 cab water
- 1 cup green beans or peas
- 2 onions - chopped small
- 1 large potato - sliced
Mix all ingredients in a large casserole. Cover with lid. Cook at 275F for 5 hours. Stir a few times while cooking.
or
Mix all ingredients in a crock-pot. Cover with lid and cook on high 4-6 hours or on low heat for 8-10 hours. Stir a few times while cooking.
Dumplings Recipe

- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp shortening
- 3 1/4 cups milk
Mix together flour, baking soda & salt, blend in shortening with fork or pastry cutter, add milk. Drop by teaspoofuls onto gently boiling stew, place top on stew, allow dumplings to rest on top of vegetables and meat, not in liquid. Steam for 15 minutes.

- 1 egg
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp cooking oil
- water (enough to make sticky dough)
Mix all ingredients together. Cook on top of stew, don't allow to sit in liquid. Place top on stew and allow dumplings to cook for approximently 15-20 minutes.

- 6 large potatoes, peeled & sliced thin
- 4 large carrots, sliced
- 4 large onions, sliced
- 4 shoulder lamb or mutton chops
- 2 cups beef bouillon or 2 oxo cubes dissolved in 2 cups boiling water
- salt & pepper
In a deep casserole or bean pot, put layer of sliced potatoes, carrots & onion, then put in the chops, season with salt & pepper, reapeat the layers, being careful to end with the potatoes on top. Pour mixture over the layers. Cook at 350F for 1 1/2 hours, removing the cover for the last hour to brown potatoes.

- 1/3 cup flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 tsp savoury
- 1/4 tsp thyme
- 4 cups tomato juice
- medium onions, quartered
- 6 medium carrots, thinly sliced
- 1 cup turnip, cubed
- 1 1/2 cups medium bows or 1 1/4 cup wagon wheels
- 1-12 oz pkg frozen peas
Sautee meat in oil. Sprinkle flour and brown. stir in seasoning and tomato juice. Cover and simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Add pasta and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add frozen peas and cook 10 minutes longer, check seasoning.
